Go MAD @ The Beach was a family fun day at Sandbanks organised by the Circuit Youth Team of the Poole & Swanage Methodist Churches which took place on Saturday 14th June 2008 from 11 am - 3 pm. This time we really tried something different - breaking the mould and leaving the confines of church buildings altogether. This was a different kind of Go MAD experience.
The event was aimed at children aged between 7 and 12 years and their families. Despite some pretty gloomy weather forecasts we actually had a sunny day with no rain during the event - but a pretty good breeze! Well over 70 people took part (about half of which were children + a number of teenagers).
We hired out the reserved section of Sandbanks beach and played all kinds of games:

The Sandcastle Competition was brilliant and there were some fantastic efforts.
Some people went swimming - thanks a million to our very own lifeguard Tom (plus
Amy, Clare and Chris). We had space-hopper relays, rounders, volleyball and even
ice-creams delivered to the beach by boat (thanks a million Martin & Tracey!).
All in all it seems to have been a success and one I'm sure we'll consider
repeating.
