Landlubbers

Shiver my timbers! There be pirates round these parts— washed up on a desert island and looking for treasure.

Landlubbers was this year's children's holiday club (for 5-11 years) organised by Upton Methodist Church. It ran every morning from Monday 25th to Friday 29th July from 10 am till 12 noon and was the usual fast-moving mixture of songs, games, craft activities and much more.

Landlubbers featured a group of pirates, washed up on a remote tropical island searching for treasure with the help of a map and some puzzling clues. These landlubbers were the children and leaders in the club (including Sooty and Sweep!)

They eventually find what they are looking for - but it doesn't turn out the way they expect. They discover that the greatest treasure of all is knowing Jesus Christ.

A range of groovy craft activities - all with a pirate theme.
A short DVD each day
Scrummy ship's biscuits (to tide every pirate over until lunch!)
Team games
Funky Christian songs to sing
Awards for the Best Dressed Pirates each day
Sooty and Sweep (and friends)!
The Messy Bit - Oh yes! We did it again! More challenges - more mess!

The week wraps up with an extra-special Landlubbers service on Sunday 31st July at 10:30 am for all ages followed by a barbecue lunch. It was a chance to bring the whole family along to Church that morning to check out all the stuff we'd got up to over the week.
