Well, Summer has finally arrived and we
certainly kick-started the School holidays off in Upton.
At Upton Methodist Church we ran The Light Factory
The programme is a mixture of activities in
small groups (e.g. craft and discussion) and all-together stuff (e.g. funky songs and games).
The Biblical teaching comes in the form of drama - with different people
dressing up as characters from the Bible and walking on. I stop them and
interview them and we explore who they are and how they know Jesus.
One of the popular slots every day was the Laser
Challenge which is a messy game that the children could enter if
they wanted to. We had everything from fishing carrots out of honey with
your teeth to cracking eggs into eggcups on people's heads, squirting
toothpaste, shooting foam off noses with water-pistols etc.!!! Please
see the photos below for all the gory details!
We were very pleased with attendance which was
consistently high and we averaged 71 children every morning.
The week wrapped up with a disco on the Friday
evening and an extra-special Light Factory service on
Sunday 28th July. About 30 children plus parents (along with the regular
congregation) turned up and we had a good time looking back over all
we'd been doing during the week.
The children all seemed to enjoy themselves and
the parents were very appreciative. As a team of nearly 20 leaders, we
also had a good week and we hope now that we might see some of the
children again at our regular BIG BUG Club and maybe some more families
at the All Age Worship.
